4. Henry Cejudo - UFC Flyweight & Bantamweight Champion

(theathletic.com)
Henry Cejudo is the latest fighter be to crowned a double-champ. Triple C won the Flyweight Belt first in an all-time upset against the Flyweight GOAT Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson. Cejudo avenged a loss to Johnson by outlasting Mighty Mouse and winning a Split Decision at UFC 227 in August 2018. Henry then defended his Flyweight Belt against, then Bantamweight Champion, T.J. Dillashaw. Dillashaw himself was attempting double champ status and wanted to be the first to move down in weight to do so. T.J. made it into the octagon, but not much else went his way. Cejudo finished Dillashaw in just :32 seconds to defend his belt. Some say the stoppage may have been early, but it happened.

Triple C’s monumental night was on June 8th, 2019. This was the day Cejudo was set to challenge contender Marlon Moraes for the Vacant Bantamweight Championship. The title was now vacant because they found out T.J. popped for the roids just to get starched by Henry. Cejudo struggled in the first round and looked to be falling behind Moraes. Once he came back out for the second, he refused to lose the fight. He put a pace on Marlon that completely disrupted all momentum. Cejudo beat him up for another round a half before Marc Goddard called the fight at the tail end of the 3rd. Cejudo got his second belt. He has since defended the 135 pound belt against Dominick Cruz before announcing retirement. “Retirement.” He’ll be back in 2022.

3. Conor McGregor - UFC Featherweight & Lightweight Champion

The original Champ Champ comes in at number 3 on my list. This may be controversial as many people would probably put him number 1, but I don’t believe he has the same championship resume as the other 2. Or even Henry for that matter. But he beats out Cejudo because of the masterful performances McGregor put on to claim the belts. After the quickest, most dynamic, most entertaining rise to stardom in the history of the UFC, Conor finally got his shot at gold when he fought Chad Mendes for the Interim Featherweight Championship. Conor was already the biggest star in the UFC and commanded the country of Ireland no one had ever seen. The following he brought to a bout was enormous and has remained unmatched. Conor fought off the wrestling attack of Mendes early and TKO’d him in the 2nd round.

This set up the highly, HIGHLY, anticipated Undisputed Title Bout between McGregor and Jose Aldo. Aldo was seen as one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the world and hadn’t lost a bout in over 10 years. He was the first and only Featherweight Champion up to that point and accumulated 7 title defenses. After a lead-up producing the biggest UFC PPV ever, Conor McGregor KO’d Jose Aldo in :13 seconds. A lighting fast left produced one of the greatest knockouts and moments in the history of the sport. McGregor slept the best fighter in the world, on the biggest stage in the world, with his first punch.

This knockout made Conor the biggest star of all time in the sport and set him up to do what he always planned, become the first ever Champ Champ. After a brief, but very entertaining, hiatus with Nate Diaz, Conor got his shot at the Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez. Alvarez was making the first defense of his belt after beating Rafeal Dos Anjos for the strap. Eddie was a long time veteran, but was never on a stage this big. Conor did everything he could to get into Eddie’s head. Whatever Conor did, it worked. Once they entered the octagon, Conor put on a flawless masterpiece. McGregor picked Alvarez apart for roughly 8 minutes. He managed to not get hit the entire fight and dropped Eddie 4 times before the finish. Conor even walked forward with his hands behind his back for a portion of the contest. It was and still is the best Championship performance I’ve ever seen. The Double Champ would like to apologize, to ABSOLUTELY NOBODY. Conor was the first to do it and changed the game forever, but never defended either belt. Without him it wouldn’t be possible, but some kings have reigned for much longer.

2. Daniel Cormier - UFC Light Heavyweight & Heavyweight Champion

(Esther Lin/MMA Fighting)
My All-Time favorite fighter comes in at number 2. And not because he’s my favorite fighter, because he is the most underrated First-Ballot UFC Hall of Famer out there. Before Double Champ status, DC was always seen as 2nd place. He was easily the 2nd best Light Heavyweight in the world, beating everyone not named Jon Jones. Jones had 2 wins over DC and sat atop the 205 pound division for the better portion of the decade. But sadly, Jones is an idiot. Jon got in all sorts of trouble involving steroids, cocaine, a hit and run, and just being an asshole. This suspended him from the UFC and DC got his chance. He earned his first UFC Championship at UFC 187 when he defeated Anthony “Rumble” Johnson for the Vacant Belt. He dominated Rumble and finished him with a rear naked choke in the 3rd round.

(f4wonline.com)
Cormier then defended the belt 4 times, beating Alexander Gustafsson and Rumble Johnson again during that run. Even years removed from the losses to Jones, the public still looked at Daniel as #2. DC needed a way to reach a new status in his career. After clearing out Light Heavyweight, and with Jones still being wrapped up in being a douche, DC decided to challenge Stipe Miocic for his Heavyweight Championship. Stipe was closing in on GOAT status in the Heavyweight division. He had just beaten the scariest man alive Francis Ngannou in his 4th title defense. Miocic won the belt by knocking out Fabricio Werdum in 2016. He had finished Alistair Overeem and avenged a loss to Junior Dos Santos as well before clashing with Cormier. DC vs Stipe was the biggest fight in Heavyweight history and a way for both men to prove themselves as an All-Time great. When it came time to fighting, DC showed up big. After digging an underhook in the clinch, Cormier snuck a beautiful right hand over the top that completely flattened Miocic. Cormier had knocked out the greatest Heavyweight of All Time in the first round and was finally number 1. He had removed himself from the shadow of Jones and into his own GOAT status.

Cormier then defended the belt against Derrick Lewis, before losing it back to Miocic in a rematch. DC defended both belts and went toe to toe with some of the greatest of all time throughout his run. He showed that he is amongst the greatest of all time. If anyone needed the Champ Champ status as a capstone to their career, it was Cormier.
1. Amanda Nunes - UFC Women’s Bantamweight and Featherweight Champion

(ufc.com)
If anyone ever tries to convince you Amanda Nunes isn’t the Greatest Double Champ and the Greatest Female Fighter of All-Time, slap em up. Nunes has a resume matched by no one in UFC history. She won her first UFC Championship when she was given her first opportunity at the strap at UFC 200 in July, 2017. Nunes would face off against Champion Meisha Tate in the main event. Nunes was on a 3 fight winning streak coming into the fight, but was inconsistent at the beginning of her UFC career, going 2-1 through her first 3 fights. The Amanda Nunes that stepped into the ring that night, and every night since, was miles ahead of any of fighter on the roster. She made quick work of Tate, battering her on the feet before finishing her with a rear naked choke in the first round. Nunes had finally won gold as the main event of one of the biggest PPVs ever.

(neosportsinsiders.com)
But the name Ronda Rousey still left doubt in peoples minds. Rousey was a dominant champion before losing her strap to Holly Holm. She had not fought since the loss and was expected to be granted a rematch upon arrival. That she was, and a bout with Nunes was booked. The promotion for this fight centered around the “return of the greatest” and the “real champ” taking back her throne. I mean, look at the damn poster!

Once the two were locked in the cage together, Nunes made Rousey look like an amateur. Rousey didn’t land one punch and was TKO’d in just :48 seconds. This performance ranks closely with McGregor’s performance against Alvarez, and it may not even be Amanda’s best.

(youtube.com/ufc)
She then defended the 135 pound belt against Raquel Pennington and Valentina Schevchenko. Valentina was, and still is, considered the 2nd best female fighter of all time, but has lost twice to Nunes. The biggest challenge of Nunes’ career came against UFC Featherweight Champion Cris “Cyborg” Santos. The UFC created the women’s Featherweight division just for Cyborg. She had long been considered the best female fighter of all time and the only person who would stand a chance against Nunes. Many thought Cyborg would defeat Amanda. She was the Champion of the heavier weight division and hadn’t lost a fight in over 13 years. She was on a 20 fight winning streak and entered the fight a -200 favorite. Her fight with Amanda was, and still is, the most highly anticipated fight in Women’s MMA history. Once Marc Goddard started the action, Nunes proved she’s the best. 20 fight winning steak? No problem. Ungodly power for the Women’s division? Don't care.

Nunes RAN through Cyborg, knocking her completely out cold in less than a minute. This was the second time Nunes finished “The Greatest of All-Time” in less than a minute. She proved that night she is by far the best Female fighter ever and a top 5 fighter ever regardless of gender. She is still the champion of both divisions and never vacated either belt, something unlike everyone else on this list. She is a true Double Champ, bouncing up and down defending both belts. Nunes hasn’t seen a close fight in years and will probably retire before she does. She has a chance to make her case stronger when she defends her Featherweight Championship against Megan Anderson this Saturday.
