Michael Johnson; what an enigma of the MMA world. Johnson broke onto the scene on Season 12 of The Ultimate Fighter. He ran through the tournament and was the heavy favorite to win the competition before losing to Johnathan Brookins, aka everyone’s favorite homeless surfer, in the live finale. Since coming off the Ultimate Fighter, Johnson has one of the most head scratching UFC careers to date. Throughout his career he has losses to forgotten UFC fighters like Paul Sass, Stevie Ray, and Reza Madadi(mans never been in Marquee when it’s shutdown eh, trust me daddy.)

The head scratching part is his wins. Despite never breaking into the top 5 of any UFC division, Johnson has wins Joe Lauzon, Edson Barboza, Tony Ferguson, and Conor’s Papi Dustin Poirier. His career exists to fool MMA math. Michael Johnson beat Dustin, why couldn’t he beat Conor? He beat Tony Ferguson, he must be really good. Johnson’s inconsistency has stopped him for ever showing his true potential in the octagon. If he is never known for anything more, he should be proud to the be definition of “woah, he beat THAT guy.” Johnson faces a tough test this weekend in the featured prelim against fellow vet Clay Guida.
